Hi everyone, THANK YOU!!! What more can I say……..OK Plenty.

Firstly apologies for not being prepared and thanking you all individually yesterday, but as you all individually were as important as each other for the successful event I did not want to miss any of you.

I am humbled on how hard everyone worked and I can say that at no time was there not a smile on club members and guest’s faces. The weather helped our cause immensely (thank you up there) and everything else just flowed as scheduled.

Although planning started weeks ago John and his team started their preparation on Saturday and were at Emerald Lakes at first light (possibly the dark).

The Food and Beverage team, the Car Park team, Hospitality/Welcome team, Time Keeping team, Boat Handling team, Coaching team, Marshalling team, Nick the race starter (who spent most of the day alone) the Sweeps, Bonny with her raffle selling team and Grant along with Denise in the safety boat Thank you. What started as teams intermingled as strength was needed in peak periods. It was also heartening that so many members (who could) stayed to pack up and John’s team closing off the day and taking the boats home.

I can’t go past our commentary team – they kept the crowd entertained and the club paddlers in fits with their on air banter. Micah and Stan sounded like two dodgy reporters at the tennis or golf spewing facts about Dragon Boating and Stan’s sporting prowess. In the 12 months I have known Stan, I have not know him for his elocution and soft speaking, but telling the crowd the best lane for paddling is the one with the lean reminded me that was our Stan.

To all of you, you have all proved what a great club The Broadwater Dragons are, with a can do spirit – I know your names I know what you can do and I will come for you in the next event.

With great appreciation

Roze — at Emerald Lakes.
