Broadwater Dragons is a not-for-profit organisation that relies heavily on the support from the State Governments and the community. Broadwater Dragons is largely funded by the membership fees from member clubs and funding awarded to dragon boating from government agencies.

Dragon boating is a truly unique water sport. People of all ages can be part of a team and within 12 months can be at competition level. It is a sport that embraces the team spirit and camaraderie, as well as encouraging people to live a healthy life.
Dragon boating is a growing sport in Australia. In the last two years, there has been a 400% growth in paddlers in Queensland alone. New clubs are developing at a rate of two per year – that is a couple of hundred paddlers a year.
