We welcome one and all, old members and new ones to join us one the road to Italy in 2014.

Day 5 of the Nationals was a very wet, cold and windy day. We warmed up in the Premier mixed boat 200m 10s sprint and out of about 40 crews we got through the heats, semis into the finals. Unfortunately we did not medal in this category but had an awesome adrenalin rush trying to get there.

Our main focus was to medal in the Premier Womens 200 m tens and the Premier Opens 200m 10s as we did the on Day 4 to confirm qualification for Italy however unfortunately due to the extreme rainfall and chill factor and a duty of care the afternoon events were cancelled. Broadie will most likely have to wait till next year to confirm our Prems qualification for Italy

Well done Broadie!!!

Day 4 of National Dragonboat.

Ladies 10's 500m silver & trans tasman cup bronze. Mens 500m silver & trans tasman cup bronze. Well done Broadie paddlers.

Tomorrow is the final day with the premier division 200m sprints. If we medal in this division we will qualify to race in Italy in the Premier division in Italy next year. Good luck all!!!!

Day 3 of racing over - in the morning was State vs State. 20 Broadwater paddlers stepped up to represent their State. Queensland medal tally today, all divisions raced and we got a medal in each one, results were: Gold x 7, Silver x 7, Bronze x 1. Well done Queenslanders!

In the afternoon was the gut wrenching, pain staking, ruthless 2K races! Although we did not medal in these, we took up the challenge giving a 100% and learnt from the experience! Broadwater paddlers will definitely sleep well tonight!

Looking forward to last 2 days of Premier paddling. We have entered the Premier Open 10s, Premier Womens 10s and Premier Mixed 10s. Some still competition with some divisions with over 30 crews participating! Good luck Broadwater!

Second day of racing over - Broadwater was determined to qualify for Italy and we are happy to say that the Grand Masters Mixed 10s crew took another gold in the 500 m event which gives them 2 golds, qualifying the crew for Italy. The Masters Mixed took a bronze in their division for the 500 which gives them one silver and one bronze which will most likely qualify them also for Italy. A tough but rewarding day.

Tomorrow is State vs State which will be interesting as Queensland has had most of the medal placings in the first 2 days but with the strong NSW premier divisions and other States stepping up it will be very competitive. In the afternoon will be the enduring 2 km races which will test the sweeps ability and the endurance of all teams!

Good luck State reps and Broadie paddlers!

First day of racing over - and Broadwater has paddled themselves to a Gold medal in the Grand Masters Mixed 200 - 10s, and a Silver in the Masters Mixed 200 - 10s. Awesome effort on the first day Broadie. Tomorrow are the gruesome 500m races... good luck all!

Australian Dragon Boat Championships 2013 are being held a Sydney International
Regatta Centre Penrith for five days from Tuesday April 16th.

I’m Joelle Poulos from Debt Quality and this will be my first National attendance - I’m
looking forward to the excitement, the challenge and I’m hoping I’ve put in enough
preparation.

Just joining Broadwater Dragons Paddling Club 8 months ago it had the right elements that enticed me to explore my potential in an environment that I never thought possible. The Dragon Boat community are a diverse social, competitive and inspiring group and the sport is open to all ages - I encourage everyone to ‘come & try’

I cannot guarantee returning with Gold but I promise I will give my all while having FUN!

Hi paddlers,

I would like to thank, on behalf of the committee and myself,  all those who have been involved in preparing our paddlers and club for the Nationals.  This includes our head coach and his coaching team, sweeps, the committee, volunteers and team captains and managers.  There is a lot of time and energy spent leading up to the Nationals and once again our club has pulled together as one big team to make it happen!

We wish our club representative paddlers and our State representative paddlers, the best as they endeavour to bring our club and our State home with Golds!

Well done all and lets show our fellow Australian clubs what Broadwater can do!

Cheers

Micah
Club President
